Lancaster, California. – Today The University of Antelope Valley Men's baseball matched up against Benedictine University at Mesa in double header action at The Hangar. The two games played today came on the heels of last night's matchup between these same two teams. Friday afternoon's game was a clash between two unbeaten teams vying for overall first place in the CalPac. The Pioneers looked to avenge their loss to the Redhawks on Friday night with new energy and focus in Saturday's slate of contests.
Game 1: UAV 2 BUM 1
The 11:00 am game between the Pioneers and the Redhawks would eventually prove to be a defensive battle between both teams. Inning two would eventually decide the final result of the game. The Pioneers had two hits that led to two runs scored. Luke Smith started off the second inning with a single up the middle, followed by Mikey Pereznegron doubling to left center field. Luke Smith and Easton Withers would score two runs in the second inning, the only two runs of the game from the Pioneers but it was enough for the Pioneers to come away with a 2-1 victory over the Redhawks. Dallas Litscher would pitch eight innings for the Pioneers in game one giving up five hits and only one run.

The second game of the day was reflective of the first game in how play started for both teams on the field. The first six innings of play was scoreless on both side of the score board. Easton Withers doubled to deep left-center and Breyer Gayle singled up the middle leading to an Easton Withers score. Tyler Pittmon doubled to deep left field leading to runs scored by Breyer Gayle and Travis Buziecki but the rally would not be enough to help the Pioneers as they loss to the Redhawks 5-3.
