Palos Verdes, CA. – The University of Antelope Valley Men's baseball team traveled to Palos Verdes, California to take on the Marymount California University Miners for a series CalPac conference games. The Pioneers entered today's game with a record of 4-2 in CalPac conference play and looking to start another winning streak.
Game 1: UAV 12 – MCU 1 (7 innings)
The Pioneers came into today's game against the Miners charged up after a week of great practices in preparation for this weekend's contest. The Pioneers started the game off with very active bats making two hits and scoring on one run. Adam Maciel tripled to center field and Tyler Pittmon singled to center field which led to Adam Maciel scoring a run for the Pioneers. Innings two through four proved to be the quiet before the storm as the Pioneers erupted for nine runs in the fifth inning. The Pioneers scored nine runs on five hits in the fifth inning. Travis Holm made the first hit of the fifth inning with a single to right field. William Garcia hit a single to center field and Easton Withers doubled to center field. The hits for the Pioneers continued to come in succession as Cory McKendrick singled to left field and Tyler Pittmon tripled to left field. Nine different players scored for the Pioneers with Mikey Pereznegron scoring twice in the inning, giving UAV a convincing 10-1 lead after five innings of play. Luke Smith and Easton Withers would score two more runs in the sixth inning giving the Pioneers a 12-1 lead that would eventually prove to be the final score as the game was over in seven innings of play.
The Pioneers will return to action against MCU for double header CalPac conference action on Sunday March 19th. The game starts at 11:00am PST.
