Torrance, California – The University of Antelope Valley Pioneers softball teambattled Marymount California University in a Sunday afternoon double header.
Game 1: UAV 0 MCU 2
The first game of Sunday's double header between the Pioneers and Mariners provided the Pioneers the opportunity to get back to their winning ways and cover some ground in the CalPac Conference standings. This game was a low scoring affair as there were only two runs scored between both teams in the game. Amber Adkins, Ashley Oakley and Cydney McElvain all had singles for the Pioneers but the Mariners pulled out a win over the Pioneers by a score of 2-0
Game 2: UAV 4 MCU 7
The second game of the double header saw the Pioneers refocused and ready for another battle with the Mariners. Sabrina Mansfield started things off for the Pioneers with a double in the top of the first inning which led to a scored run by Ashley Oakley, giving the Pioneers an early 1-0 lead over the Mariners. UAV would lead MCU through the first four and a half innings of play. The Pioneers scored four runs on six hits (Ashley Adkins 2 hits, Sabrina Mansfield 2 Hits, 2 RBIs) but it would not be enough to overcome a six run inning by MCU as UAV lost a close game to MCU 7-4.
The Pioneers return to action April 13th at home versus La Sierra in CalPac Action.
