Pasadena, CA. – Today the University of Antelope Valley Men's baseball team took the field for CalPac Conference action against Providence Christian College.
The Pioneers came into today's game Providence Christian focused on taking another step towards a second consecutive CalPac Conference championship. The mission of the Pioneers in today's contest was to take control of the game and dominate from the opening pitch. The Pioneers and Seabeggars were knotted at zero after one inning of play, but beginning with the second inning of play the Pioneers separated themselves from their opponent. The Pioneers would score four runs in the second and third inning of play to take a 4-2 lead. UAV scored six runs in the fourth inning to take a 10-2 lead. Great hitting by UAV (18 total team hits) lead to seventeen runs scored by the Pioneers as UAV cruised to a 17-2 victory over PCC in seven innings. Mikey Pereznegron, Jake Harrison and Corey McKendrick each led the Pioneers with three hits apiece. McKendrick and Pereznegron both scored three runs in the game for the Pioneers and had one RBI each. CalPac pitcher of the week Tyler Sharp pitched five innings for the Pioneers giving up only three hits and two runs.
The Pioneers will return to action tomorrow looking to sweep PCC in double header CalPac action and capture the CalPac Conference title.
