Prescott, AZ – The University of Antelope Valley volleyball team began their second day of action in the Embry-Riddle Tournament with two matches slated for today's schedule.
UAV 3-0 over Johnson & Wales University (25-16, 25-21, 25-20)
The Pioneers first match of the day would pit them against Johnson & Wales University from Denver, Colorado. UAV controlled the match convincingly as they won three straight sets over Johnson & Wales University. Shea O'Brien was all over the court for the Pioneers. O'Brien led the team with 12 kills, 44 total attacks, and 15 digs. Kaycee Shaffer led UAV with 15 assists and Dionicia Colon-Mateo had two service aces in the match.
Arizona Christian University over UAV 3-1 (25-19, 22-25, 17-25, 19-25)
The second match of the day would have the Pioneers facing off against Arizona Christian University. This would be the first matchup of the season between these two teams. The Pioneers would win the first set against ACU 25-19, but despite a competitive effort would drop the next three matches. Alison Fuata had 36 total attacks for the Pioneers while Bria Buchanan added 35 total attacks. Shea O'Brien had 17 kills for UAV and Kaycee Shaffer balanced the Pioneers attack with 13 digs, 3 service aces and 43 total attacks.
The Pioneers return to action on the road August 29th at #7 nationally ranked Westmont College. The game starts at 7:00 pm PST.
