Roseville, CA – The University of Antelope Valley men's soccer team traveled to Roseville, California for today's game to take on William Jessup University.
The Pioneers came into today's contest looking to bounce back from a heartbreaking overtime loss to Northwest University. UAV began the game intent on establishing themselves early defensively while also being active on the offensive. Manuel Medina and Emerson Roque scored the first two goals of the day for the Pioneers less than a minute apart from each other. UAV's defense would hold WJU to one goal scored in the first half of play, giving them a 2-1 advantage at halftime. The Pioneers would strike first in the beginning of the second half of play when Jorge Diaz assisted Edwin Diaz on a goal increasing the lead 3-1. Edwin Diaz would score another goal for the Pioneers at the 76:31 mark giving UAV total control of the game, giving UAV a victory defeating WJU with a final score of 4-2. Juan Cisneros had 7 saves on the day for the Pioneers. Head coach Jarrod Cline was extremely pleased with his team's efforts in today's victory. "I'm happy with the way the guys played today. We went down 1-0 against the run of play, but came back and responded with four goals.We still have some things to work on, but I'm happy with the overall performance today."
UAV will be back in action tomorrow on the road as they take on the University of California Santa-Cruz. The game starts at 11:30 am PST.
