Phoenix, AZ – The University of Antelope Valley volleyball team split a pair of matches in today's action in the Arizona Christian Tournament.
The Pioneers took momentum from last night's victory over Arizona Christian University into today's tournament action looking to continue their winning ways. The first match of the day would pit UAV against Life Pacific College. The first set of the match would be a closely contested battle as UAV would fall to LPC. The Pioneers would rally to win the next set 25-18 but would lose two of the next three sets, losing the match to LPC 3-2 (20-25, 25-18, 18-25, 25-23, 11-15).
The Pioneers second match of the day would be against NCAA Division III Belhaven University. UAV would bounce back from the earlier defeat in their first match of the day to defeat the Blazers 3-2 (25-23, 21-25, 22-25, 25-20, 15-9). Mercedes Dangerfield again led UAV with 17 kills and Camryn Buell had 40 total attacks. Kaycee Shaffer had 44 assists and 5 service aces for the Pioneers. Dionicia Colon-Mateo had 15 digs for the Pioneers.
The Pioneers will have their first home game of the season September 6th at The Pioneer Event Center against The Master's University. The game starts at 7:00 pm.
