Head Athletic Trainer: Jayme Wright
Jayme is entering her sixth year at UAV as an Athletic Trainer. She joined UAV at the beginning of its athletics department. In her first year, she had club softball and baseball with a total of 38 athletes, until now, with 9 teams and over 200 athletes. She loves watching these teams develop and grow into conference contenders and champions.
Jayme did her undergraduate work at Weber State University, where she received a BS in Athletic Training. As a student, she spent 4 years mainly with the football team. She also worked with basketball, track and field, soccer, tennis, and volleyball. She continued on to Graduate School at Utah State University, where she worked as a graduate assistant Certified Athletic Trainer. She was responsible for the track and field, cross-country and gymnastic teams. She graduated with a MS in Exercises Science. She is BOC certified with the National Athletic Trainers Association as well as a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
Outside of UAV, Jayme loves spending time with her husband and 2 girls, camping, and traveling.
Associate Athletic Trainer Lieah Maxfield
Lieah is the assistant trainer in her 1st year at UAV. Lieah completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Athletic Training at San Diego State University in 2012. In her final semester at SDSU she completed Emergency Medical Technician training at Miramar College and became a Nationally Registered EMT and a Certified Athletic Trainer in January 2013.
Lieah has worked as an independently contracted First Aid and Emergency Responder for many youth sports organizations and tournaments in San Diego county while also working at Rancho Bernardo High School as an Assistant Athletic Trainer. Lieah left San Diego and continued her education at East Stroudsburg University in Pennsylvania where she gained experience as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer for ESU’s Field Hockey and Women's Lacrosse teams. Upon graduation in 2015 from the Advanced Clinical Practicum in Athletic Training Master’s program, Lieah was brought on to the staff where she worked full-time in the athletic training clinic caring for injured athletes.
Lieah’s priority is the health and safety of all the athletes she works with and wants to see them succeed, not only on the field but in their endeavors beyond their sport as well. She resides in Palmdale with her husband and looks forward to any day she can get out to go hiking or bouldering.

If your institution will be participating in an athletics contest at the University of Antelope Valley, please find information regarding our athletic training department here.
1. Physicals: ALL student-athletes, whether returning or incoming must have a physical completed by a Medical Doctor (M.D.), Nurse Practitioner (NP), or Physician's Assistant (PA) prior to participating in any type of physical activity with their athletics team. Physicals completed by any other professional will not be accepted. It is the student-athlete's responsibility to schedule an appointment with a medical professional to have his or her physical completed. UAV physical forms must be used.
2. Medical History: This form is to be completed by all student-athletes. It must be completed prior to the physical to be reviewed by the medical professional, and submitted with the completed physical form to the athletic trainer.
3. Health Insurance: This form is to be completed by all student-athletes. All athletes need to fill out this form and submit a copy of their insurance carrier to the athletic trainer.
Disclaimer: All athletes are responsible for maintaining insurance coverage. Failure to do so will result in becoming ineligible to participate (practice, games) until proof of insurance is obtained.
